Chances are, you know somebody who makes their living online. And chances are, the idea of ditching your boss, working your own hours, and most importantly—working for yourself—is a super appealing prospect.
But like most people, you don’t know where to even start on how to make money online, or whether or not it will even work! For instance, maybe you wasted your time taking those online surveys, only to realize they either pay you next to nothing or the company won’t pay you at all! To heck with those scams!
Luckily, I’m not only here to weed out what doesn’t work, but am here to let you know what DOES work.
After all, if it generates you money and is worth your time, it’s worth doing. And without further ado, here are some of the best ways to make money online:
-Sell a Skill: Chances are, you have some sort of talent. And if so, there are probably people willing to pay you for it. For example, if you have excellent writing skills, you could do online copywriting (articles, proofreading, writing the text for a website, etc.).
And if you’re an expert in a specific field, you can sell your knowledge as a consultant. And even if you don’t have any skills, you can find work as a transcriber (typing whatever is said in an audio recording). There are tons of doctors’ offices looking for transcribers, and the pay isn’t bad.
A great place to sell your skill is on Craig’s List or on Peopleperhour.com
-Sell a Tangible Good: Chances are you’ve sold stuff on eBay. Well, there are people out there who go a step further—and they sell on sites such as eBay, Amazon.com, and even on their own website.
Typically, these people are wholesalers. A wholesaler is a person who buys something in a large quantity. In doing so, they’ll get a better deal on the product at a much lower price.
I know a woman who goes to a local wholesaler that specializes in department store returns. The woman buys high-end beauty products for cheap and sells them on Amazon.com for a nice profit. This is what she does for a living.
–Sell Your Photos: If you’re a photographer (by trade or by hobby), you can license the photos you’ve taken to various microstock companies. People who are looking for photos (mainly web site builders) will pay these companies, and you’ll receive a commission.
You can often set the price you would like for your photo, and you still own the rights to your photos, and can even grant rights on a specific picture as many times as you’d like. Some microstock websites include Shutterstock, Istockphoto, and Dreamstime.
–Tutor and Teach: If you’re a starving graduate student or if you can speak a foreign language, chances are you could be making money as a tutor or teacher. All you need is your knowledge, a fast internet connection speed, and the ability to video chat.
Although all subjects are needed, there’s a higher demand for those who have strong skills in finance, math, science or fluency in a foreign language. If interested, websites such as Smarthinking.com and Tutor.com are great places to look into.
–Ebates.com: If you already shop online, you COULD be getting money back each and every month! When I found out about Ebates.com, I was skeptical, but I tried it anyway. It’s 100% free, and it pays you money back when you shop online.
Why would they do this? Easy! You know when you’re on website and you see ads telling you to ‘CLICK HERE’ to buy a product? Well, that ad space was purchased by an affiliate.
An affiliate is someone who directs a potential customer to a website. And if that customer buys something, the person responsible for placing that ad gets paid a set percentage of that sale.
So Ebates.com had an ingenious idea: they thought—why don’t we partner with the most popular websites and become affiliates to these online stores… and let’s share some of that affiliate money we make from a sale with the customer who made the purchase?
So how much money can you make? Well, the typical percentage ranges around 5-15%, though it can be higher on some occasions (companies like Wen Haircare and Lifelock Security offer super awesome 20-25% returns). Here are a few examples of my last few transactions:
-Walgreens: 8% I spent $132.40, so I ended up getting $10.59 from Ebates
-GNC: 5% I spent $254.47, so I ended up getting $12.72 from Ebates
-FTD Flowers: 15% I spent $70.00, so I ended up getting $10.50 from Ebates
The way I see it, if I’m going to buy something online, I might as well get some money back for doing something I would be doing regardless.
–Affiliate Marketing: As mentioned, affiliate marketing is when you connect a potential buyer to a seller. When that buyer buys something, you either receive a percentage of the sales or a set dollar amount. It’s a great way to make a living, and if you put in the work, you have the potential to make A LOT OF MONEY .
And that’s the great thing about being an affiliate marketer: you not only work for yourself and get to call the shots, but your income potential has no ceiling. That’s pretty exciting for performing such a simple task. Isn’t it?
But I think the reason the majority of people aren’t working as an affiliate marketer is for one of two reasons: they’re either not familiar with what an affiliate marketer actually does, or they have no clue where to start.
Well, the good news is I researched a few of the most popular affiliate marketing programs and found an awesome, low-cost program that not only explains what affiliate marketing is, but also shows you EXACTLY what you need to do to make money as an online affiliate.
I purchased the program—Dotcomsecrets—for a mere $1. No joke. I figured I had no reason not to check out the program, for I wanted to learn how to become an online affiliate.
So I purchased Dotcomsecrets, and minutes later, I was learning everything I needed to know—including which products I should promote, how to get people to buy from these companies, and much, much more.
And I’m very happy to say I now make a good living as an affiliate marketer thanks to the program.
